- The Nuts and Bolts
With more than 8 years of combined involvement with flat track roller derby, to say that the founders of twoHard are invested in the sport would be an understatement.
When it came time to redesign GGRD's outdated website, we took upon ourselves the ambitious project of completely redefining the structure and navigation of a roller derby website to reflect the athleticism and discipline of the modern roller derby revival. We threw out all our assumptions and studied dozens of websites for other sports teams and leagues for inspiration.
On the backend, our goal was to make administering content on the site as simple as possible. Thanks to Drupal, changing rosters, player names, scores, schedule is a simple as logging in a clicking a few buttons. No programming required!
For the online store, we leveraged Ubercart, an powerful open-source e-commerce tool based on Drupal. Weight-based shipping quotes are pulled directly from the USPS and payment is taken through a Paypal Merchant account. The GGRD Merchandise department likes Ubercart's backend reporting tools so much that they are now using it for all inventory and accounting (including in-person sales).
On-deck projects with GGRD include photo galleries, a training section for the coaches, and integrating more statistics.
